NUDEC PC RW

This plastic material is known as ‘renewable polycarbonate’ and is the latest addition to our eco-friendly product range!

What is Renewable Polycarbonate?

Discover our high-quality range of transparent and multi-coloured renewable polycarbonate plastic sheets. Not only is the renewable polycarbonate eco-friendly and durable, but it is also much stronger than traditional acrylic plastic sheets making it the perfect material for glazing and protective screens.

The material is the first of its kind in both the process used to create it and it is the only material independently certified as being renewable.

The renewable polycarbonate sheets are prized for their outstanding strength and flexibility, the plastic material is virtually unbreakable due to its high impact resistance.

Not only is renewable polycarbonate much more durable than glass, but it is also 30 times stronger than acrylic. This makes it ideal for uses that could result in damage to the material as it is very unlikely for it to break which prevents a potentially hazardous situation.

These renewable polycarbonate plastic sheets have an excellent structural performance which allows for the material to be easily shaped and cut to bespoke specifications and requirements. Another key benefit to renewable polycarbonate is that it is weather resistant which helps this material to maintain a clean look for the majority of its duration.

NUDEC PC RW is one of our most recent additions to our eco-friendly product range. The ‘RW’ stands for renewable. This is because the material is manufactured utilising a process that uses natural oils to create the polymer base. The NUDEC PC RW can’t officially be considered as recycled polycarbonate because, unlike our other sustainable product Crylux RE, it is not exclusively made from a regrind material.

Renewable Polycarbonate FAQ’s

See some of the most common types of questions we get asked about our renewable polycarbonate product!

How strong are renewable polycarbonate sheets?

Renewable polycarbonate is a rigid form of plastic, offering high specifications such as durability, resistance and flexibility compared to other plastic alternatives. Polycarbonate is approximately 30 times stronger than acrylic sheets.

What's the difference between polycarbonate and acrylic?

Both plastic materials are quite similar offering substantial transparency and are a great solution for optical applications, such as roofing or windows. Compared to glass, acrylic and polycarbonate are both incredibly flexible and light.

When we look at the differences between acrylic and renewable polycarbonate, acrylic has approximately 17 times the impact resistance compared to glass, whereas polycarbonate has 250.

Compared to acrylic, polycarbonate offers more resistance which makes it perfect for demanding applications such as windows that need additional support. In terms of pricing, acrylic is a more cost-effective option than renewable polycarbonate, and can easily be heated and moulded into shape whilst maintaining its pristine appearance.

Is renewable polycarbonate ideal for glazing?

Polycarbonate is a particularly strong and durable thermostatic plastic material. It can withstand extreme temperatures which is what makes it such an ideal outdoor material for uses such as glazing.
